Gianfranco Toso, M.D., D.D.S., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Toso graduated from the University of Bologna Medical School, Italy in 1956. He completed his Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery Residency at the Newark Eye & Ear Infirmary, New Jersey in 1963 and started his practice in Reading, Pennsylvania in 1964. Dr. Toso has been a leader in the development and advancement of ear surgery. In 1986 he started The Reading Hospital & Medical Center Cochlear Implant program with Elca Swigart, Ph.D., becoming the first surgeon in Eastern Pennsylvania to perform a cochlear implantation. Dr. Toso is Board Certified and his practice encompasses all aspects of Otorhinolaryngology. He specializes in ear surgery, and has developed advanced techniques for reconstruction of the ear canal and elimination of the mastoid cavity after ear surgery. He served as Section Chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology, The Reading Hospital and Medical Center until 1997.
Hector J. Seda, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Seda graduated from the Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia in 1964. He completed his Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery Residency at the University of Oklahoma in 1969. From 1969 to 1971 he served as a Major in the U.S. Medical Corps, where he became the Chief of Otolaryngology at the Irwin Army Hospital. He was Associate Professor, Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine from 1969-1971. In 1971 he joined Berks E.N.T. Surgical Associates, Inc. In 1972 Dr. Seda began serving as Clinical Instructor with the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Seda is Board Certified and his practice encompasses all medical aspects of Otorhinolaryngology. He has a particular interest in Vestibular Disorders (disorders involving balance and equilibrium). He served as the Section Chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology, The Reading Hospital and Medical Center from 1997 through 2003.
Winifred W. Kao, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Kao graduated from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in 1987. She completed her Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery Residency at the Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia 1992 and joined Berks E.N.T. Surgical Associates, Inc. that same year. She is Board Certified and her practice encompasses all aspects of Otorhinolaryngology. She has particular expertise in the area of endoscopic sinus surgery, the most advanced form of sinus surgery. She is also actively involved in the Cochlear Implant program with The Reading Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Kao served as Medical Director of Pennsylvania Eye & Ear Surgery Center, LLC. July 2005 through June 2009, and currently serves as the Assistant Medical Director.
Joseph R. Watson, D.O., F.A.O.C.O.
Dr. Watson graduated from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, School of Osteopathic Medicine in 1998. He completed his Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck, and Facial Plastic Surgery Residency at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2004. He began service in 2004 as a clinical instructor in the Department of Otolaryngology of Thomas Jefferson University. Dr. Watson joined Berks E.N.T. Surgical Associates, Inc. in July of 2005. He is Board Certified in Otolaryngology as well as Facial Plastic Surgery, and his practice encompasses all aspects of Otorhinolaryngology. His interests include sinus and allergy, children’s ENT, disorders of the voice and swallowing, and facial cosmetic surgery.
Darryl T. Mueller, M.D.
Dr. Mueller graduated from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in 1999. He completed his Residency in Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia, in 2006. Dr. Mueller joined Berks E.N.T. Surgical Associates, Inc. in 2008. He is Board Certified and his practice encompasses all aspects of ear, nose, and throat disorders. His interests include diseases involving sinus and allergy, pediatric ENT, voice and swallowing disorders, thyroid tumors, and abnormalities of the ears, hearing and balance systems. He is actively involved in the Cochlear Implant program at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center.
Leslie H. Sonday, Au.D, F.A.A.A
Dr. Sonday graduated with a Master of Science Degree in Audiology from The Pennsylvania State University in 1992. She received her Clinical Doctorate in Audiology (Au.D.) from the School of Audiology at Pennsylvania College of Optometry, and is licensed in Pennsylvania. Dr. Sonday joined Berks E.N.T. Surgical Associates, Inc. in 1999 and presently serves as Director of Audiology. She is dedicated to providing the most advanced methods of vestibular testing and rehabilitation, as well as fitting advanced technology hearing aids. Dr. Sonday is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the Pennsylvania Academy of Audiology.
Melissa A. Reitnour, M.A., C.C.C.-A.
Ms. Reitnour completed her undergraduate studies at West Virginia University and completed her graduate studies in Audiology at Temple University. Both degrees were granted with honors. She holds Pennsylvania state licenses as an Audiologist as well as a Hearing Aid Fitter since 1985. Ms. Reitnour is dedicated to her craft; she listens to and meets the needs of those who seek help for hearing and balance issues. She is happy to have joined Berks E.N.T. Surgical Associates, Inc. in February 2011. After having managed multiple hearing centers she is glad to be back in the clinical setting. She enjoys working with physicians to provide total care to her patients.
Kellye C. Carder, D.Au, F.A.A.A.
Dr. Carder graduated with a Clinical Doctorate in Audiology from George S. Osborne College of Audiology at Salus University in 2010. She received her Certificate of Clinical Competency in Audiology from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association; is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology and is a licensed Audiologist is in the state of Pennsylvania. Dr. Carter joined Berks E.N.T. Surgical Associates, Inc. in March 2011.
