Winifred W. Kao, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Kao graduated from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in 1987. She completed her Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery Residency at the Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia 1992 and joined Berks E.N.T. Surgical Associates, Inc. that same year. She is Board Certified and her practice encompasses all aspects of Otorhinolaryngology. She has particular expertise in the area of endoscopic sinus surgery, the most advanced form of sinus surgery. She is also actively involved in the Cochlear Implant program with The Reading Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Kao served as Medical Director of Pennsylvania Eye & Ear Surgery Center, LLC. July 2005 through June 2009, and currently serves as the Assistant Medical Director.

Joseph R. Watson, D.O., F.A.O.C.O.
Dr. Watson graduated from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, School of Osteopathic Medicine in 1998. He completed his Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck, and Facial Plastic Surgery Residency at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2004. He began service in 2004 as a clinical instructor in the Department of Otolaryngology of Thomas Jefferson University. Dr. Watson joined Berks E.N.T. Surgical Associates, Inc. in July of 2005. He is Board Certified in Otolaryngology as well as Facial Plastic Surgery, and his practice encompasses all aspects of Otorhinolaryngology. His interests include sinus and allergy, children’s ENT, disorders of the voice and swallowing, and facial cosmetic surgery.

Darryl T. Mueller, M.D.
Dr. Mueller graduated from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in 1999. He completed his Residency in Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia, in 2006. Dr. Mueller joined Berks E.N.T. Surgical Associates, Inc. in 2008. He is Board Certified and his practice encompasses all aspects of ear, nose, and throat disorders. His interests include diseases involving sinus and allergy, pediatric ENT, voice and swallowing disorders, thyroid tumors, and abnormalities of the ears, hearing and balance systems. He is actively involved in the Cochlear Implant program at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center which was pioneered by Dr. Toso, one of our founding members.
Physicians Assistant/Associate

Deborah Dropcho, MPAS, PA-C
PA Dropcho graduated in 2011 with a Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies from Kettering College of Medical Arts in Kettering, OH and has been in otolaryngology for most of her clinical career. Deb joined Berks E.N.T. Surgical Associates, Inc. in February 2024. She is a board certified PA with experience in both ENT and medical Spanish, and is happy to provide care to our Spanish speaking patients. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Associates, North Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants and the Society of Physician Assistants in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery.

Leslie J. Sonday, Au.D., F.A.A.A
Dr. Sonday graduated with a Master of Science Degree in Audiology from The Pennsylvania State University in 1992. She received her Clinical Doctorate in Audiology (Au.D.) from the School of Audiology at Pennsylvania College of Optometry, and is licensed in Pennsylvania. Dr. Sonday joined Berks E.N.T. Surgical Associates, Inc. in 1999 and presently serves as Director of Audiology. She is committed to fitting advanced technology hearing aids and providing exceptional patient care.
