Ear Pain (Otalgia)
Did you know not all ear pain is ear related? Otalgia, or ear pain, can come from different causes, like infections, injuries, or even other health conditions such as chronic tonsillitis, dental disease, or obstructive sleep apnea. Finding out what's causing the pain is key to getting the right treatment and relief. We're dedicated to figuring out what's behind your ear pain and providing thorough care.
We treat both the symptoms and the issues causing your otalgia. Our treatments are designed to ease the pain and improve your ear health. By focusing on both quick relief and ongoing care, we aim to help manage and resolve your ear pain effectively.
At Berks ENT we will work diligently to examine the source of your pain so that we may treat it appropriately. Regardless of cause, frequently a warm pack to the ear and neck can offer some relief. Ear pain is usually worse at night, so sleeping in a recliner or even using a wedge to elevate the head of bed can sometimes help. If the ear pain is related to and external ear infection (“Swimmer’s ear”) or a middle ear infection, antibiotics will be prescribed, however if the ear exam is normal, then other underlying causes need to be found.
